Legislayer Lore

You may have heard me called Legislayer once or twice, and wondered what the heck that meant! It’s a little… well, you’ll see.

I didn’t exactly talk about my career in the music business after I was elected. I didn’t think it was relevant.

But I got found out by my staff.

After leaving college, I got a job in radio and eventually in concert promotion, marketing some of the biggest rock concerts in Connecticut. Then I moved to NYC, where I worked for Guitar One Magazine, Cherry Lane Music Publishing, and Metropolitan Entertainment.

My time in rock and roll also had me part of the management team for a multiplatinum heavy metal band, but my staff didn’t know which one. On the last day of my first session, my staff threw me a celebration. I had written and passed 3 significant pieces of legislation, a pretty big feat for a Freshman. The kids told me I “slay”, and my staff surmised the band I worked for was Slayer. My world’s best Legislative Aide and Committee Clerk, Peter, hereby dubbed me The Legislayer. The name has stuck for ten years and counting.

No, it wasn’t Slayer, although I have some great stories about Kerry King. Sometimes I throw out some fun easter eggs on my social media about my time in metal, but these days I prefer to “slay” on the Floor of the House.
